MetaTrader 4 Terminal window – News, Mailbox, Experts, Journal

News

The list of incoming news is stored in the “News” tab. The news topics are presented in the form of a table and arranged in accordance with the time, at which they came in. The news time, topic and category are presented in the table. This list is updated automatically, once the latest news comes in.

One can choose from the following commands in the context menu:

– View – views the selected news. One can also read the news by double-clicking with the left mouse button on the respective topic.

– Copy – copies the news to the clipboard.

– Category – shows/hides the “Category” column.

– Auto Arrange – automatically arranges columns when changing the size of the window.

– Grid – shows/hides grid to separate columns.

In case no “News” tab appears in the “Terminal” window, this means that no news have been released yet.

In case the “Enable news” option is disabled in terminal settings, news will not come in.

In case the given account has no appropriate rights, this can be one of the reasons why news does not come in or cannot be viewed.

Mailbox

The “Mailbox” enables one to work with the internal mailing system. It is in this window of the “Terminal” where all electronic messages, incoming to the
terminal, are stored. They are presented in the form of a table with the following fields:

– Time – this is the time, when the news comes in.
– From – the name of the sender.
– Headline – the headline of the message.

By double-clicking with the left mouse button on the necessary headline or the “View” command from the context menu, one can view the content of the selected message. One can delete a message by using the “Delete” command. If the brokerage company permits it, one can send messages to the systems administrator or to technical support service from this tab. In order to do so, one has to execute the “Create” command from the context menu, then select a receiver in the called window, head the message, write its text, and press the “Send” button.

All messages are sent via the internal mailing system and do not require any additional settings. If any problems occur when using the mailbox, one needs to refer to the technical support service.

Experts

The “Experts” tab includes the entire information about the attached expert – opening or closing of positions, order modification, the experts own messages and so on. Only the latest messages are featured in the window. In order to view the earlier messages, one needs to execute the “Open” command from the context menu and select the desired file. Files of the experts logs are saved in the /EXPERTS/LOGS directory, while file names correspond with the log date YYYYMMDD.LOG. In order to copy a message to the clipboard, one needs to execute the context menu command of the same name.

Journal

The “Journal” tab includes information about the stated actions of the trader and the client terminal within the current session. Information about terminal launching and events during its operation, including all trading activities, can be found in the journal. Only the latest messages are featured in the window. In order to view the earlier messages, one needs to execute the “Open” command from the context menu and select the desired file. The files of the client terminal journal are saved in the /LOGS directory, while the file name corresponds with the journal date YYYYMMDD.LOG. If one is to copy the message to the clipboard, he/she needs to execute the context menu command of the same name.
