According to a February 1st statement by the metalworkers union in Sao Jose dos Campos, Sao Paulo, Brazil, about 2 200 employees at a General Motors plant in the region will be given a two-week time off. The furlough is expected to begin on Monday, February 13th.

General Motors shares registered their fourth loss in the past five trading sessions on Wednesday. The stock went down 1.28% ($0.47) to $36.14, after touching a daily low at $35.86, or a level not seen since January 9th ($35.86).
