New Hyderabad Tech Hub to Drive DoorDash’s India Expansion
US-based food delivery company DoorDash will build out a significant presence in India, with plans to generate 3,000 jobs in the country over the next two years. The hiring will take place through a newly launched global technology hub in Hyderabad, located in the southern state of Telangana, according to a statement from the state government dated Sept 30.
The Hyderabad hub was formally opened on Wednesday and is intended to serve as a key operational node in DoorDash’s global network. The facility is positioned as part of the company’s broader strategy to scale technology and support capabilities from India.
Initial Focus on Support and Administrative Operations
The Telangana government release stated that the new center will initially accommodate teams responsible for customer support as well as general and administrative functions. These activities are expected to form the foundation of the hub’s operations in its early phase.
The Hyderabad site will operate as a customer support-based operations center and is set to start with 500 professionals. This operation will be DoorDash’s third such service hub worldwide, complementing existing centers in Tempe, Arizona, and Mexico City.
India Network: Hyderabad Joins Existing Pune Tech Office
The Hyderabad technology hub becomes DoorDash’s second tech-focused office in India. The company already maintains a presence in Pune, where it runs software, data, and analytics operations that came under its umbrella through the 2021 acquisition of robotics startup Chowbotics. The purchase price for Chowbotics was not disclosed.
| Location | Role/Function | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Hyderabad, India | Customer support; general and administrative functions | New global technology hub; plans for 3,000 jobs over two years; 500 initial professionals |
| Pune, India | Software, data, and analytics | Operations obtained via 2021 acquisition of Chowbotics |

| Mexico City, Mexico | Customer support hub | Existing global service center |
Rising Role of Global Capability Centers
The announcement comes as companies increasingly look to establish global capability centers, or GCCs, in offshore markets to manage costs and reduce reliance on third-party IT providers. These in-house hubs typically support critical technology, operational, and support functions for global enterprises.
DoorDash is the latest multinational to expand into Hyderabad through such a structure, joining firms including Costco, McDonald’s, Charles Schwab, Marriott, and Southwest Airlines, all of which have opened offshore centers in the city in recent months.
India’s Position in the GCC Landscape
India has become a central destination for GCCs, with the country identified as the largest hub worldwide for such operations. It hosts more than 2,100 centers that collectively employ about 2.36 million people and generate nearly $100 billion in revenue, according to a 2026 report by Nasscom-Zinnov.
