Tesla Motors is working for tripling their supercharger stations by the end of the next month. That would give Teslas customers a possibility to use the electric sports car from LA to NY. Musk noted that current expansion of stations would give customers more freedom which is a basic goal in companys service.

“Its very important to address this issue of long distance travel” he said for CNN. “When people buy a car, they are also buying a sense of freedom, the ability to go anywhere they want and not feel fettered.”

Tesla plans to cover the whole country with its supercharger stations in the next two years. The CEO was a part of the D11 conference in south California this Thursday where he answered to some questions in detail about Tesla products. The superchargers stations would offer an option of quick charging which would be available as a basic in the higher class models but also as an option for the more affordable electric cars. Also a great plus is using the stations would be free of charge for Tesla owners.

There has been a debate over Teslas technology reliability as New York Times did a test drive from New York to Boston and Teslas model failed to make it as it ran out of charge. Musk commented the data from the trip showed some significant push over the limit by the driver which caused the problem.

CNN Money also tested the electric automobile and showed the car able to make it with the help of supercharger network of stations. Tesla also took into consideration producing a reliable backup chargers which would allow their cars to run more than extra 80 miles in a heavy traffic.

The feedback for Tesla is impressive for such an innovative technology. The US car magazine put one of the Teslas models for a car of the year in first place. Consumer Reports, a highly influential magazine gave the electric car the label of “best car the magazine has ever tested”
