XTB is a multi-asset CFD broker founded in 2002 and listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The group markets itself on tight spreads, fast execution and its proprietary xStation 5 platform suite, available on web, desktop and mobile. Depending on jurisdiction, clients can open Standard, Pro or Swap-free accounts with no compulsory minimum deposit and leverage capped at 1:30 in the UK/EU (up to 1:500 under the offshore entity). Typical safeguards include segregated client money and negative balance protection, although investor compensation coverage varies by entity.

The product line-up is broad: forex, indices, commodities, shares, ETFs, crypto, and some bonds – all traded as CFDs. In selected EEA countries XTB also offers real (non-CFD) stocks and ETFs.

Regulations

XTB operates a multi-entity structure. For UK residents the contracting party is XTB Limited (Company No 07227848), authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 522157, authorisation granted 17 January 2011). The registered office is Level 9, One Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London E14 5AA.

EEA clients contract with the Polish parent XTB S.A. (KRS 0000217580) supervised by the Komisja Nadzoru Finansowego (KNF) since 2005 and passported into the EU under MiFID II. The head office is Prosta 67, 00-838 Warsaw, Poland.

Outside Europe, XTB uses XTB International Ltd (Registration No 153939), regulated by the International Financial Services Commission of Belize (Licence IFSC/60/413/TS/19, issued 5 December 2019). Middle-East clients are served by XTB MENA Limited, authorised by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA Reference F006316, Category 3A, 12 July 2021). The broker does not disclose US or Canadian onboarding and states it cannot accept residents from those jurisdictions.

Retail protections differ. FCA/KNF entities offer segregated client funds, negative balance protection and access to the Financial Ombudsman Service (UK) or the Polish Arbitration Court. UK customers are additionally covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (up to £85,000). Belize and DFSA entities confirm fund segregation and NBP but no statutory investor compensation.

Trading Instruments

XTB offers more than 2,100 CFD markets plus several thousand real stocks/ETFs to eligible EU residents. Margin requirements follow ESMA rules in Europe and rise to 1:500 offshore. Below is a breakdown of key categories.

Forex trading

Around 57 currency pairs are quoted, covering majors, minors and selected exotics (e.g., USD/TRY, EUR/HUF). EU leverage stands at 1:30 on majors and 1:20 on others; Belize/DFSA entities permit up to 1:500. Average spreads on EUR/USD are 0.9 pips Standard and 0.1 pips Pro (plus commission). Trading is 24/5 with no imposed deal size minimum beyond platform tick value.

Commodity trading

Metals include spot gold, silver, platinum and palladium, while energies feature WTI, Brent and natural gas. Softs such as coffee, sugar and cocoa are also available. Contract sizes are 1 lot = 100 troy ounces (XAUUSD) or 1,000 barrels (OIL.WTI). Standard overnight swap and weekend gap risks apply; swap-free accounts avoid interest but pay administration fees after a grace period.

Index trading

XTB lists more than 40 cash and futures indices: S&P 500, Dow Jones, DAX40, FTSE100, Nikkei, KOSPI, etc. Cash indices trade nearly 24 hours with variable spreads from 1.0 point on DE40 cash. Dividend adjustments and financing are reflected daily. Margin is 5% (EU retail) or as low as 0.5% under the international entity.

Share/ETF trading

Over 2,000 single-stock CFDs from the US, UK, Europe and selected Asian exchanges are offered with 1:5 leverage (EU) or 1:20 offshore. Commissions are 0.08% with an €8/£8/$8 floor. Real, unleveraged equities and ETFs are available to EEA clients only, with 0% commission up to €100,000 monthly notional. Corporate actions – dividends, splits – are passed through proportionally.

Cryptocurrency trading

Approximately 49 crypto pairs, quoted against USD or EUR, trade 24/7. Leverage is capped at 1:2 in the EU and 1:5 offshore. XTB suspends trading during major exchange outages and reserves the right to widen spreads during high volatility. Weekend gaps and overnight funding add material risk that traders should monitor.

Bonds and interest rates

XTB provides CFD access to a small selection of government bonds (e.g., German Bund, US 10-year T-note) and short-term interest-rate futures such as Eurodollar. Margin starts at 3% for EU retail clients, and typical spreads are quoted in ticks (e.g., 0.03 points on DE10Y). Liquidity follows the underlying futures exchange schedules.

XTB builds around its proprietary xStation environment, supplemented in some regions by legacy MetaTrader 4. All platforms are free, support desktop, web and mobile, and integrate trading, analytics and account management. VPS hosting is not advertised; copy-trading is limited to internal signal widgets rather than a marketplace.

xStation 5

xStation 5 is XTB’s flagship platform for desktop and web. It offers advanced charting (nine timeframes, multiple chart types), over 30 drawing tools and more than 50 built-in indicators. One-click trading, depth-of-market and sentiment heat-maps are native features, as are price alerts and an economic calendar. Orders include market, limit, stop and trailing stop, all available from the chart. CFD coverage spans the full XTB universe, and the workspace is fully synchronised across devices.

Asset management is integrated: clients can switch between live and demo, alter leverage (where regulation allows) and access detailed performance statistics. The platform also hosts ‘Top movers’ and analyst commentary, but automated strategies require the separate xAPI or third-party bridge because xStation does not run EAs natively.

xStation mobile

The mobile application, available for iOS and Android, mirrors most desktop features – watch-lists, chart trading, news stream and push notifications. Charts include pinch-zoom and 30+ indicators; order tickets support partial closes and SL/TP editing. Biometric log-in enhances security. XTB states the app supports in-platform deposits and withdrawals for cards/e-wallets under certain entities, streamlining account funding.

Execution speeds are displayed within the app, providing transparency on slippage. Clients can also contact live chat directly from the interface, a useful escalation path when trading on the move.

MetaTrader 4

MT4 is no longer offered to new UK/EU registrations but remains available to legacy and some international clients (Belize entity). Where supported, it comes as the standard desktop client plus mobile apps. All Expert Advisors, custom indicators and scripts are allowed, and XTB hosts its full product list on MT4 apart from real stock/ETF trading. The broker does not publish server locations or latency figures and does not provide a dedicated VPS, although third-party hosting is compatible.

Copy trading

XTB does not operate an external copy marketplace. Within xStation, users can monitor top-performing strategies via the ‘Performance statistics’ tab and manually mirror trades, but this is not automated social trading. DFSA and Belize clients may use MT4 signal services, subject to MT4 availability. Risk controls such as equity-stop and per-trade sizing must be set manually by the follower.

Payment methods

XTB publicly lists card, bank transfer and selected e-wallets; crypto rails are not supported. Deposit alternatives vary by entity – for example, UK clients can use Visa/Mastercard, bank transfer and PayPal, whereas Polish and International clients also see Skrill and Paysafe. Minimum deposit is officially “none”, yet card processors may enforce a token £/€/$1.

Card and PayPal deposits post instantly; Skrill appears within minutes; domestic bank transfers are typically same day in the UK (Faster Payments) and 1–2 business days elsewhere. XTB absorbs card deposit costs but passes through e-wallet fees (currently 2% for PayPal/Skrill). Bank deposits are free.

Withdrawals are processed back to bank accounts only. Requests lodged before 13:00 GMT on business days are executed the same day; receipt is generally 1–3 working days depending on banking rails. The broker does not charge withdrawal fees above the entity-specific minimum (e.g., £60 for UK accounts); smaller requests incur a flat processing charge – £12 for GBP, €16 for EUR and $20 for USD. All accounts can be denominated in GBP, EUR, USD and a handful of local currencies (PLN, HUF, etc.). Using a matching base currency avoids FX conversion by the card network or correspondent bank.

All funding actions require prior KYC approval. XTB applies the standard “return to funding source up to deposit amount” rule for anti-money-laundering. Additional verification may be requested for third-party cards or large withdrawals.

Account types

XTB groups its offering into Standard, Pro and Swap-free accounts, plus an unrestricted demo. Pricing is either spread-only or raw-spread-plus-commission, depending on jurisdiction. ESMA-regulated entities cap leverage at 1:30 on major FX and supply negative balance protection; Belize/DFSA entities advertise leverage up to 1:500 (forex) – a level that magnifies losses as well as gains.

Standard account

The Standard account is the default for UK and EU retail clients. Pricing is spread-only on forex, indices and commodities – XTB quotes typical EUR/USD spreads from 0.9 pips during liquid hours. Stock and ETF CFDs attract a commission of 0.08% (minimum €8). There is no minimum deposit, and the account supports xStation 5 and mobile; MT4 is restricted to legacy holders. Leverage is 1:30 (major FX), 1:20 (minors, gold) and 1:5 (shares). Real stock/ETF trading, where available, settles through the same login.

Pro account

The Pro account is available under the Belize and DFSA entities. It offers raw spreads from 0.1 pips on major FX and a commission of $3.50 per side per standard lot ($7 round-turn). All other contract specifications match the Standard account, but maximum leverage rises to 1:500 (FX), 1:200 (indices) and 1:10 (share CFDs). The model is aimed at active traders who prefer direct-cost transparency over included mark-ups. Pro clients receive identical platform access and can switch to Swap-free status on request.

Swap-free (Islamic) account

Swap-free accounts are offered by XTB MENA and XTB International to comply with Sharia law. Overnight financing is replaced by an administration fee on selected instruments after an interest-free grace period (details vary). All trading conditions mirror the Standard or Pro template, including leverage. The account is not available under FCA or KNF entities.

Demo accounts

The free demo mirrors live market pricing and product depth, defaulting to €100,000 virtual balance (editable). Opening takes less than two minutes and requires only an email and password. The demo does not expire automatically but will be archived after 90 days of inactivity; users can open multiple demos in different currencies. All platform features, including mobile trading and trading statistics, are enabled so prospective clients can test execution and interface before funding.

Support

XTB provides multi-channel support 24/5. UK clients can reach the service desk on +44 20 3695 3085, via live chat embedded in xStation, or by email (ukservice@xtb.co.uk). International entities list equivalent local numbers. Response times on live chat average under one minute during London trading hours; emails are typically answered within a business day.

The broker’s Help Centre hosts over 100 articles covering account administration, funding and platform usage, searchable by keyword. A chatbot fields simple queries before escalating to a human agent. Language coverage includes English, Polish, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic and several others; however, off-hours support reverts to English only.

Conclusion

XTB combines multi-jurisdiction supervision – including the UK’s FCA – with a strong proprietary platform and a genuinely wide CFD catalogue. Transparency around spreads, commissions and funding costs is above average, and a zero minimum deposit lowers the barrier to entry. The main downsides are the withdrawal-by-bank-only rule, limited automated trading options inside xStation, and the absence of investor compensation for offshore clients.

Retail traders who value deep instrument choice and an intuitive, analytics-rich platform will find XTB competitive. High-frequency or algorithmic traders may prefer brokers offering MT5 or cTrader plus built-in VPS, while US residents must look elsewhere due to regulatory restrictions.
