EUR/JPY Holds Tight Range Around 184.00
EUR/JPY traded broadly unchanged around 183.90 during the Asian session on Friday after posting modest gains in the previous session. The pair remained above its short-term 9-period Exponential Moving Average (EMA), but upside progress continued to be constrained by the 50-period EMA.
This configuration of moving averages, combined with a nearly neutral 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) reading of 48.21, pointed to a phase of consolidation with a mild downside tilt, as the cross struggled to reclaim its medium-term EMA while staying supported by nearby dynamic levels.
Technical Outlook: Support and Resistance Levels
On the downside, immediate support was seen at the 9-day EMA, located at 183.59. A clear move below this short-term reference would be expected to reinforce the existing bearish tone and could drive the pair toward its eight-month low of 179.37, which was registered on August 3. Should selling pressure persist beyond that point, the next notable technical level was the nine-month low at 175.70.
On the upside, initial resistance was situated at the 50-day EMA near 184.49. A convincing break above this medium-term average would be interpreted as a sign of renewed bullish momentum, potentially paving the way for a move back toward the region of the all-time high at 187.95, set on April 17.
