Key Moments

  • EUR/JPY has been trading around 185.80 for a third straight session, supported by both the nine-day and 50-day EMAs.
  • The 14-day RSI at 55.33 points to ongoing bullish momentum without indicating overbought conditions.

EUR/JPY Technical Overview

EUR/JPY is experiencing a muted tone for the third day in a row, trading near 185.80 during Asian hours on Monday. The pair maintains a constructive upside bias, with prices holding above the nine-day and 50-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs), which are acting as closely aligned dynamic support levels.

The 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) currently stands at 55.33, leaning in favor of further gains while remaining below overbought territory. This indicates that buying momentum is intact but not excessively stretched as the cross consolidates just below recent peaks.

Ascending Triangle Structure and Upside Levels

On the daily chart, EUR/JPY continues to trade within an ascending triangle pattern. The upper boundary of this formation is located near 186.10 and is providing immediate resistance. The combination of a flat resistance area at the top of the pattern and progressively higher lows reflects firm buying interest.

A clear move above the triangle ceiling would signal a strong continuation of the prevailing uptrend and could open the way toward the record high of 187.95, which was reached on April 17.

Downside Supports and Risk to Bullish Bias

On the downside, first-line support is seen at the nine-day EMA at 185.50. Additional support is located at the 50-day EMA at 185.12, followed by the lower edge of the ascending triangle around 185.00.

A sustained drop below the lower boundary of the triangle would undermine the current bullish stance and shift focus to lower levels. In that scenario, the cross could be drawn toward the region of the five-month low at 181.87, registered on March 16, as well as the seven-month low at 180.81.
