Walt Disney shares fall for a fifth time in seven sessions on Friday, ticket prices to rise by up to 4.9% at US theme parks

The admission cost for Walt Disneys theme parks in the United States is to be increased by $5 for some one-day tickets, starting on February 12th. According to a statement by the company, single-day costs at Walt Disney World in Orlando will remain unchanged or be raised by up to 4.9%.

Walt Disney shares closed lower on Friday, while also marking their fifth loss in the past seven trading sessions. The stock edged down 0.21% ($0.23) to $109.26, after touching a daily low at $108.58, or a level not seen since January 27th ($108.15). In the week ended on February 12th the shares of the entertainment company lost 0.94% of their market value compared to a week ago, which has been the first drop in the past three weeks and also the worst performance since the week ended on November 6th. The stock has extended its loss to 1.26% so far during the current month, following a 6.17% surge in January. The latter has been a third straight month of gains. For the entire 2016, Walt Disney shares lost 0.82%.

The cost for a single-day adult pass to the Magic Kingdom will range between $107 and $124 in dependence on the season. At the same time, the one-day cost at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim (California) will range between $97 and $124.

Being Walt Disneys second largest field of operations, theme parks were reported to have generated $17 billion in revenue and $3.3 billion in operating income during the fiscal year ended on September 30th 2016.
