Strategic Move Into Nordic Logistics
Blackstone said on Tuesday it was creating a dedicated logistics investment platform for the Nordic region, offering investors a more direct way to allocate capital to what it described as a high-growth segment.
According to a company statement, the new platform will aggregate over 200 warehouse properties, largely focused on last-mile facilities that support the expanding e-commerce sector. These assets collectively span more than two million square metres.
Norla Platform Structure and Geographic Reach
The initiative will be operated through a Stockholm-based platform called Norla, which is planned to cover Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Blackstone indicated that Norla is expected to become operational next year.
The portfolio within Norla will consist mainly of properties already held by Blackstone-managed funds, with the possibility of adding selected third-party assets. A source familiar with the transaction said the initial value of the assets transferred into the platform will be about €3 billion euros ($3.41 billion).
| Platform Name | Region | Asset Type | Number of Assets | Total Area | Initial Asset Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Norla | Sweden, Denmark, Finland | Mainly last-mile logistics warehouses | Over 200 | Over two million square metres | About €3 billion euros ($3.41 billion) |
Investor Demand for Targeted Exposure
“As the sector has matured, we are seeing investors increasingly seek more granular exposure by geography and asset type,” said James Seppala, head of real estate in Europe for Blackstone.
The company also noted the exchange rate used in the valuation, stating that $1 equals 0.8807 euros.
