A calendar is used by most traders for the purpose of tracking the occurrence of fundamental market-moving events. Investors will look up the date and time of a specific event and pay close attention to the announcement because of the high probability that it will affect the direction of the market and more specifically it will directly affect price of (shares, currency, commodities).
The most influential events include interest rate decisions, non-farm payroll numbers, and changes in gross domestic product (GDP), Consumer Price Index (CPI), Purchasing Managers Index (PMI), etc. Its important to be noted that each event has its own rate of priority, based on the expected market influence of the same event. Furthermore, the actual result for an event is compared to previous and estimated values to find the direction of a possible market move.
